My name is Matt Spencer, and for most of my life I have been considered a Jack-of-all-trades. While never truly achieving specialization in any one particular field, I always prided myself on my wide array of talents and abilities, as well as my incredibly fast adaptability.

I work in many different forms of digital media. In spring of 2009, I walked across the stage at the University of California San Diego to receive my Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, in Interdisciplinary Computing in the Arts; a testament to my Jack-of-all-trades nature.

I would like to say I love all aspects of digital media production equally, but I will tend to flock mostly to photography and video editing/visual effects.

Photography has always been a passion of mine. I’ve always had the mindset to capture images which represent the moment. Memories can fade, but an image will keep those memories fresh and alive. Whether it be an action shot or candid portrait, there is significant satisfaction in taking a moment in time and freezing it forever.

My love of technology creeps in when it comes to visual effects and editing. One of my biggest fascinations has always been how things work or how things are done, and movie magic is no different. I would sit for hours on end watching DVD extra features to learn how these craftsmen and artists make such fine pieces of work.

Tools like Autodesk Maya, Adobe Premiere, and After Effects allow me to assemble these grand visions I see for projects. I’ve been able to use these to create a handful of individual and group projects, of which I am very proud of. I feel they demonstrate a good understanding of the craft and ability to learn and expand on each successive project.
